On a cold November weekend in Virginia and Washington, DC, 12 of my high school classmates, including myself, of the Cebu City National Science High School class of 1980, met and saw each other again after 36 years. The weather might have been cold, but the emotions were warm.
With some strands of gray hair now on our heads, some new lines on our faces, and a few extra pounds we carry, it’s like we’ve never parted. We laughed as we remember the good times, as we danced and sang to the songs that we used to sing during our formative 4 years on that tiny high school in Salvador Street in Labangon, Cebu City. Life was tough back then, but that just made remembering them just as sweet.
It was really great to see everyone, and I really needed that weekend! I don’t think there was a single moment when we were not laughing.
